More than a photograph

Some images are carefully constructed. Others happen in a fraction of a second. The craft is knowing which.

With a background in photojournalism and more than two decades across editorial, commercial and documentary work, Lars Bech brings curiosity, nerve and a distinctive visual language to every assignment.

Based in Copenhagen. Working wherever the story takes him.

Da guldet kom hjem til Aarhus

After 40 years of hope, disappointment and patience, AGF lifted the championship trophy in May 2026 and sent an entire city into the wildest party. The book takes you close to the euphoria, the tears of joy and the triumph.

Langenæs/Århus/Danmark

The award-winning debut. A portrait of Lars' own neighbours in the Aarhus quarter Langenæs. Strong colours, crooked angles and an “amateur aesthetic” that pointed Danish photojournalism in a new direction.

Selected projects

The stories behind the work.

Dansk Skuespillerforbund

Half a year on the road across Denmark documenting every corner of the acting profession, from stage and film sets to coaching and audiobook recording.

En del af holdet

Films made with the Danish Football Association about children, well-being and the community of grassroots football. Human stories, told in moving images.

North Korea

Everyday life glimpsed through the cracks of the most closed country in the world. Sleeping children, wedding hands, soldiers off duty.

Rock 'n' Roll

From punk to Slayer to Thomas Helmig. Two decades of musicians photographed with the volume turned all the way up.

What Lars does

One photographer. Many ways to tell it.

For agencies, brands, newsrooms and organisations who need images with a point of view, and someone who knows when to create the moment, and when to capture it.

About Lars Bech

“There has to be punk on the front page.”

Lars Bech trained as a photojournalist at Danmarks Journalisthøjskole in 2001 and caused a stir during his internship at Berlingske with a wild, saturated style. He co-founded the free daily Urban as its picture editor, promising strong colours, strange light and crooked angles.

His debut book Langenæs/Århus/Danmark leaned towards European art photography in the vein of Wolfgang Tillmans and Richard Billingham. Today his work spans PR, identity, advertising, fashion, portraits, lifestyle, documentary and film, and he passes it on as an external lecturer, long-time examiner at DMJX and teacher at FOF.
